12 Monkeys coming to the Small Screen

12 monkeysThis is such great news!

Director Terry Gilliam’s 1995 sci-fi thriller 12 Monkeys, which starred Bruce Willis as a time-traveling nutjob out to save humanity from a decimating plague, is expected to hit the small screen soon on the Syfy channel. The first trailer has been released (below), and it looks like a hoot.

In the movie, Willis ends up in a mental institution where he meets Dr. Railly, played by Madeleine Stowe, and fellow inmate Jeffrey Goins, played by Brad Pitt (a role that earned him an Oscar nomination).

For TV, X-Men‘s Aaron Stanford will take the lead role while Suits‘ Amanda Schull plays Dr. Railly.

The original movie was genius for its wit and wild plot twists, and because it involved time travel,  it has so much more potential. (Just disregard the fact that time travel is likely fatal for the traveler, as I have noted elsewhere.)

I would love to write for this franchise.
